Nepal is a small country lying on the southern slope of the Himalayas. It is also situated on the lap of Mt. Everest. It is 885km. in length and 193km. in average width. which is 147181 in sq. km. It is situated on south Asia region having about 23 million people. It is no doubt that this country is known as the land of temple, birth place of lord Buddha and the land of the Brave Gorkhas all over the world.

Its land is mostly made up of mountains & hills and one of the highest mountain peaks in the world falls in this country. The world famous Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha is as locally known). Similarly, Annapurna, Machhapuchchare, Ganesh Himal, Ama dablarn, Tilicho etc.

It is landlocked country with beautiful scene and lakes situated between two big neighboring countries India & China. What so ever it is on the line of world peace and brotherhood. There are more than 22 languages and dialects spoken by different group but all can speak the official language - Nepali.

The basic ethnic division of the country can be done geographically by putting Kathmandu, the capital at the center to the North, there is a predominance of the Mongolian race and to the south the Aryodravidian race and due to the mixture of both, we can basically divide into the such races Limbu, Rai, Tamang, Magar, Gurung, Newar. Sherpa and Thakali, Brahmans and Chettri, Tharu etc.Consequently, Nepal is rich in religion and ethnic communities.
